A major European collaborative project focusing on the REACH legislation has identified a number of key factors which will provide fundamental help in steering the project going forward, for the benefit of polymer companies across Europe. Most importantly, the project has identified varying levels of awareness of REACH across the Member states, a severe lack of specific information about REACH relating to the polymer industries and also strong industry support for the forthcoming e-learning tool that will be the end-product from this collaborative project.
Bernhard Borgardt has been unanimously re-elected as President of European Plastics Converters (EuPC) for two-year term beginning June 2010. Bernhard Borgardt has served as EuPC President for the past two years. Prior to his first election, he was chairman of the EuPC Packaging Division, a position he held since 2002.
'Plastics processors are hurting', said Alexandre Dangis, speaking about the mounting raw material cost increases sustained by Europe's plastics processors. The head of the industry's Brussels organisation, European Plastics Converters Association, believes that this will slow down recovery in the industry, just at a point when flickers of hope were appearing in the marketplace.
EuPC is part of a consortium of eight partners in all who will be embarking upon a 2-year project focussing on improving understanding of the REACH legislation for the benefit of polymer companies in Europe. "Polymer REACH" is a 0.5 million Euro project, which will run through 2010 and 2011 and which will be supported by funding from the Leonardo Da Vinci "Lifelong Learning Programme".
EuPC's mission is to create a good trading environment for Plastics Converters in Europe.
